The Merchant Navy Club at Cochin was formally inaugurated by the British in 1943.
When the British withdrew in 1947 they left behind an indispensable and significant meeting hub for the mariners of Kochi – A club for mariners of all races and genders, doing full justice to its objective of being “A club where seafarers of all countries would have the opportunity of meeting together and cultivating mutual acquaintance and promoting good fellowship.”
